The network is physical, the schedule is dawn-indexed, and the work is exacting. We are small on purpose: forty-one loft nodes are run by a team of nineteen.
Loft Reliability Engineer
What you will do
- Own uptime for a group of eight rooftop loft nodes, including the 04:30 pre-dispatch inspection protocol.
- Instrument feed, water, perch, and intake-scanner telemetry; page on anomaly, not on failure.
- Drive mean time to recovery on grounding events below twenty minutes.
- Run washdown and biosecurity windows without breaching corridor capacity commitments.
- Carry the operations on-call rotation. Night pages are rare; the fleet does not fly at night.
What we look for
- 3+ years operating physical infrastructure under a published SLA.
- Comfort with early starts, ladders, and weather.
- NPIP biosecurity familiarity a plus; we train the rest.
VP, Airspace Compliance
What you will do
- Own the company's regulatory posture, including our position that couriers are not aircraft within the meaning of 14 CFR Part 107. Maintain that position.
- Monitor UAS rulemaking dockets and file comments where proposed language could be read to reach the fleet.
- Manage municipal rooftop permitting across forty-one loft sites in eleven jurisdictions.
- Co-own the incident register with Operations and represent Aviary at the weekly safety board.
What we look for
- 10+ years in aviation, transportation, or telecom regulatory practice.
- Agency-facing experience; calm under examination.
- Genuine interest in the oldest continuously regulated transport layer in the world.
Courier Performance Analyst
What you will do
- Build cohort models of asset performance across wind regimes, seasons, and corridor geometries.
- Own the weekly corridor throughput review and the molt-season capacity plan.
- Identify underperforming assets early and route them to retraining before the SLA notices.
- Maintain the fleet's lifetime performance ledger: every dispatch, every fix, every asset, since founding.
What we look for
- Strong SQL and Python; you have shipped models that ran in production.
- Background in athlete or fleet performance analytics welcome.
- Rigor about small numbers. Our error bars are grams and minutes.
