Careers
mngr is a small team in San Francisco and New York building the decision layer for engineering organizations. mngr runs on mngr: decisions about your candidacy are issued through the production API and remain reversible for 90 days.
Own the consistency layer that guarantees a decision made in us-east-1 is the same decision in eu-west-1.
What you will do
- Design and operate multi-region decision replication with strict serializability across org boundaries.
- Drive down MANAGER_CONFLICTED rates during quarterly planning peaks.
- Own the reversal-window lifecycle: retention, garbage collection, and the audit trail for reversed decisions.
- Build and maintain the confidence-calibration pipeline (weekly, against realized outcomes).
What we look for
- 7+ years building distributed systems in production.
- Deep familiarity with consensus protocols and their failure modes.
- Experience operating systems whose outputs are reviewed by stakeholders with conflicting incentives.
- Comfortable with ambiguity.
Manager of Managers (API)
New York
Operate the manager fleet: the pooled manager instances that serve decision traffic for every org on the platform.
What you will do
- Capacity-plan the fleet ahead of planning seasons; decision traffic is strongly seasonal.
- Own span-of-control autoscaling. Target span is 7 direct reports per instance; sustained spans near 10 sit at the degradation threshold.
- Run quarterly calibration across the fleet and retire consistently miscalibrated instances.
- Carry the tier-2 escalation pager.
What we look for
- 5+ years running high-availability fleets: compute, databases, or managers.
- Fluent in queueing theory as it applies to organizational throughput.
- Prior management experience is useful but not required.
Developer Advocate, Org Chart
Remote
Help engineers integrate the org chart. You will own the sample apps, the Postman collection, and the conference talks.
What you will do
- Maintain quickstarts in Node, Python, and Go; keep the sandbox console current with each API version.
- Write the integration guides for common HR systems — the org-graph import is our most-used onboarding path.
- Speak at developer conferences. Our founders keynoted SCALE//SCALE and expect the same of the team.
- Triage developer feedback into the roadmap through the standard feedback endpoint.
What we look for
- You can explain idempotency to a room and org design to an engineer.
- Comfortable presenting live demos against production systems.
Benefits
Medical, dental, and vision. 401(k) with match. Twenty days of paid time off. Sixteen weeks of parental leave. An annual offsite.
